My heart dropped.

I stood up immediately and followed her down the narrow aisle of the plane. My mind was racing. It was her first period, and I knew she was already embarrassed about it. The last thing I wanted was for her to feel alone.
\nThe flight attendant gently knocked on the bathroom door.

My daughter looked at me with surprise.
\n\u201cYou carry them?\u201d
\nI shrugged. \u201cYour mom told me years ago that one day you might need one when she\u2019s not around. So I figured I\u2019d be ready.\u201d<\/p>\n
For a moment she just stared at me\u2026 then suddenly wrapped her arms around me.

As the plane continued through the clouds, she leaned her head on my shoulder and whispered something that made my chest tighten with emotion.
