A woman was gobsmacked after inheriting her late ex-boyfriend\u2019s estate worth an eye-watering $700,000 \u2013 while his pregnant wife received nothing.<\/p>\n
The couple were together for 20 years, never married and remained childfree but split when she found out he cheated on her with his now-wife.<\/p>\n
One year into dating her current boyfriend, she fell pregnant and her ex would sometimes text but she never replied.<\/p>\n
After the man took his own life, the woman received a call from a solicitor explaining he had left \u2018everything\u2019 in her name, which erupted a feud with his wife.<\/p>\n
On Reddit the woman sought advice on how to navigate the situation and asked if she\u2019s in the wrong for wanting to keep it all.<\/p>\n
\u2018I found out that he cheated on me three years ago and I left him. Six months later I heard that they were married,\u2019 the woman wrote.<\/p>\n
\u2018I found out that I was pregnant with my current boyfriend a year into dating and even though we still weren\u2019t \u2018there\u2019 in the relationship, we thought that we could make it happen and sure enough we are very happy and we love our little family very much.\u2019<\/p>\n
She explained her ex continued to text on significant occasions like birthdays and holidays, but she never responded.<\/p>\n
\u2018When he heard about my daughter he sent me a lengthy and hurtful text about me cheating on him and he never texted me again,\u2019 she continued.<\/p>\n
\u2018A few months later my ex ended his life. His wife is apparently giving birth anytime now. I was surprised.\u2019<\/p>\n
She was then contacted by a solicitor who explained she had been left \u2018everything\u2019 besides some left to his parents and nephew.<\/p>\n
\u2018I got a letter from him apologising for what he did and saying that he loved me and wished me and my family happiness and he wanted to help with that,\u2019 the woman continued.<\/p>\n
\u2018Now his wife and parents are very angry and demand that I leave them everything. I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
\u2018Would I be the a if I kept it because that is what I actually want and what he wanted?\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n
The Reddit thread quickly caught the attention of more than 21,000 people and many suggested hiring a lawyer. Others offers sound advice.<\/p>\n
One said: \u2018He gave it to you. He clearly meant to. In terms of whether you deserve it, it\u2019s hard to understand why you\u2019re any less deserving than the wife and parents.<\/p>\n
\u2018You clearly meant something to him, he shared your life for many years. I don\u2019t think you have anything to feel bad about.\u2019<\/p>\n
Another added: \u2018I think he passed with regrets and wanted to make it right. And I have a feeling he knew his unborn child is not his and finding out you moved on was a tipping point.<\/p>\n
\u2018He left that money to you on his own accord for a reason\u2026 He was with you for 20 years and chose to honour that time together.\u2019<\/p>\n
A third wrote: \u2018This is one of those situations where it\u2019s really best not to make any decisions quickly. There\u2019s too much emotion. This is not the time to make a snap decision that you\u2019ll have to live with the rest of your life.<\/p>\n
