\nMy stomach dropped.
\n\u201cWhat happened?\u201d I asked, already half-standing.

\nI followed her down the aisle, my heart pounding harder with every step.

\nJust quiet sobbing.
\nI pressed my forehead lightly against the door.

\nFor a moment, I just stood there, trying to think.

\nShe nodded immediately and hurried off.
\nI knocked again.

\nThere was a pause.
\nThen a quiet sniffle.

\n\u201cI know,\u201d I said. \u201cBut you\u2019re not alone. I\u2019ve got you. Always.\u201d
\nThe flight attendant came back with a blanket and a small kit.
\n\u201cHere,\u201d she said quietly. \u201cWe\u2019ve got extra supplies too.\u201d
\nI thanked her, then passed the blanket through the small gap as my daughter cracked the door open just enough to take it.
\nA few minutes later, the door unlocked.
\nShe stepped out slowly, wrapped in the blanket, eyes red but calmer.
\nI didn\u2019t make a big deal out of it.
\nI just stood up, smiled gently, and said, \u201cHey. You did great.\u201d
\nShe looked at me like she wasn\u2019t sure whether to cry again or laugh.
\n\u201cI did?\u201d
\n\u201cYeah,\u201d I said. \u201cFirst time handling something new in the air? That\u2019s pretty impressive.\u201d
\nShe gave a small, shaky smile.
\nWe walked back to our seats together.
\nAs she sat down, she leaned her head on my shoulder.

\nI wrapped my arm around her.

\nThe rest of the flight was quiet.
