I sat on the couch, the letter shaking in my hands. My heart raced. I read it again. The IRS wanted to check his income. I felt like the world was spinning.

We had been divorced for two years. It felt like yesterday. He was charming but sneaky. Our marriage started happy. But it ended in lies.

Our divorce was hard. He said he made much less money. So, I got less support for our kids. Money was tight. I took on extra work. I wanted to give my kids a good life.

Now, this letter said he lied. I felt angry and sad. I thought about what this meant for us. My kids deserved better. I knew I had to fix this.

I decided to stay calm. I talked to a lawyer. I needed to know what could happen next. I took deep breaths. It felt like a new beginning.

I went to pick up my kids from school. They were my world. My daughter asked why I looked worried. “It’s grown-up stuff,” I said with a smile. I promised her everything would be okay.

At home, I tried to cook dinner. But I kept thinking about that letter. I needed to talk to someone. I called my best friend. She listened and said, “You are strong. You will get through this.”

I felt better after our talk. I knew I wasn’t alone. I went to bed that night with many thoughts. I wondered what the IRS would find. I hoped he would face the truth.

Days passed. I got busy with work and home. But the thought of that letter stayed. I was scared of what might come next. Then, my lawyer called me with big news.

The IRS found more lies. My ex had hidden money. He earned more than he said. I felt a mix of relief and anger. He couldn’t hide anymore.

I went to buy groceries one day. I thought about our past. I remembered how he used to spend money. He bought things we didn’t need. I often asked him why. He always had an excuse.

Now, I knew why. He wanted to make sure he kept more money. It made me sad to think he cared more about money than us.

One night, I sat with my kids, doing homework. They laughed and played. Their joy was my strength. I told myself I would fight for them. They deserved the truth.

The court date came. My ex looked nervous. I felt calm. I knew I had to stay strong. The judge read the IRS report. It showed he lied about everything.

My heart ached for the man I once loved. But I knew he needed to face this. The judge ordered him to pay what he owed. He had to sell many things to pay back the money.

Everyone saw what he did. He lost respect. He lost friends. But I stayed calm through it all. Inside, I felt strong. I knew justice was happening.

After the hearing, I walked with my kids. I hugged them tight. I felt free. We could start fresh now. I promised them a better life.

Now, I’m okay. Each day is brighter. Life is better without lies. I am strong for myself and my kids. We are happy. We have each other.
